In the dynamic world of events, success isn’t just about logistics and content—it’s about the wellbeing of everyone involved. Welcome to a journey where organiser vitality and attendee satisfaction intersect, creating extraordinary experiences.
The Crucial Role of Wellbeing in Successful Events
Wellbeing isn’t just a buzzword; it’s the lynchpin of successful events.
The event team’s wellbeing has a ripple effect and can directly impact the success of the events we create. When our event teams flourish, they foster an environment in which attendees can also flourish. Attendee satisfaction isn’t solely about the event content—it’s about feeling valued, heard, and cared for.
That’s why our investment in the wellness of our teams pays dividends. When our team members arrive ‘live’ at events, they’re energised, focused, ready to exceed expectations and elevate an event from ordinary to extraordinary.
The Impact of Stress on Event Organisers
When event organisers experience poor wellbeing, it can affect their concentration, effort, and ability to deliver excellent customer service. According to a study by the World Scholarship Vault, event organisers’ stress levels have reached new highs, making it one of the top five most stressful jobs in the world for 2023. The repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic have further escalated stress levels, resulting in increased pressure. NICE reports that 3.7 million working days are lost each year in the UK due to work-related stress, anxiety, and depression, costing £28.3 billion annually. For event organisers, managing stress becomes not only a health-related concern but also a fundamental operational issue.
The Connection Between Employee Happiness and Customer Satisfaction
The adage “happy employee, happy customer” holds true, especially when those employees strive to deliver memorable and motivational events. Harvard Business Review found that each one-star improvement in Glassdoor company rating predicted a 3.2-point increase in customer satisfaction according to the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI).
Our Commitment to Employee Wellbeing
At BI WORLDWIDE, we focus on our teams so they can focus on you! We’re proud of the investment we make in our people with benefits that support all facets of their wellness, so when it’s time for the event to start they’re charged up and ready to deliver.
Onsite, we partner with clients and suppliers, fostering great working relationships with everyone involved in executing an event. Team schedules are meticulously planned to guarantee optimal delivery levels. Considerations such as defined breaks for lunches and breakfasts in a crew-only space, ensuring early starts lead to early finishes, and late nights involve later starts, are all factored in to maintain balance. Much as we do for our delegates, we ensure staff have healthy meal options available and snacks to sustain energy levels throughout the event. Upon arrival, our team members find a “crew wellness kit” in their rooms, providing products to support immunity, combat jet lag, improve sleep, and manage stress. Our teams matter to us, and this small effort helps them recover equilibrium before starting their on-site roles.
To handle the unexpected, we have contingency plans in place. As well as our comprehensive planning processes which include critical document production such as risk assessments and health and safety audits, our team members back in the UK are proactively supporting our teams with regular check-ins aimed at reducing stress and anxiety and are on standby to provide virtual assistance whenever needed to ensure the wellbeing of our delegates and event teams.
Post-event, once feet are back on the ground, our TOIL (time off in lieu) and flexible working policies ensure our team have time to fully recover before they jump into their next project.
Energised teams, extraordinary events
At BI WORLDWIDE, we live and breathe our belief in the power of events when it comes to inspiring people and delivering ROI for our clients.
Event team and attendee wellbeing converge around a shared purpose: creating exceptional experiences.
Whilst the attendees may not see the behind-the-scenes efforts, nor should they, they should FEEL the difference of a happy team. Our commitment to wellbeing isn’t just about ticking boxes, it’s about creating a positive ecosystem. When our teams thrive, they deliver exceptional experiences. And those experiences, in turn, leave a lasting impact on our client’s attendees. It’s a virtuous cycle—one that we know begins with the wellbeing of our people.
